Awareness Vs Destiny
Years ago I decided I wanted to have a jeep. From that day forward I started seeing them everywhere. Does that mean that there are a lot of jeeps around these parts, or just that I was more aware of the few that are here?
I digress…
My new hero is SustainableDave. And not because he is a wealth of knowledge about renewable energy sources. But because he has decided to not throw away any garbage for a year. He is keeping a blog on his progress, and he is already 90 days into it.
Now, I don’t just mean garbage at home. I mean every piece of garbage he collects no matter where he is: out of the house, on vacation, anywhere. Every wrapper and plastic bag and bottle comes back home with him. There are extensive rules he must follow. Think you could do it?

Dude,
I’m humbled. Thanks so much for the kudos. Cool site.

Strangely enough, Dave, I’ve already been doing something similar to you. I’ve been keeping all of my bottles (plastic AND glass) for the last two years. I honestly didn’t intend to do it – I intended to sort through them and recycle them eventually. But I just never seem to get around to it. I’ve got bags and bags and bags of bottles in my basement and my shed.
Okay, I’m a little lost. Why would you want to hoard all your bottles? Do you intend on using them for something? Is it some kind of experiment? If not, why not recycle them? Or is it just down to laziness/forgetfulness?
In my case, laziness and mild curiosity to see exactly how many bottles I use. In Dave’s case, definitely an experiment to see how much garbage one human can generate, and perhaps even make strides to reduce that amount once he starts to see just how much there is and it is necessary for him to slow down so he isn’t overcome with it.
