nice work mark i like using vanilla, I'm starting to believe there is a conspiracy with open source cms, none of them provide support for ffmpeg and none of them have ffmepg plugins. why is that ? are people going to tell me their isn't a single php coder intersted in making a ffmpeg plugin ? that is a very strange thing about this issue. look at Wordpress still has no ffmpeg plugin, but take a look at the version numebr of wordpress 2.8.4, yet you dont even get a answer from the developer why their ain't no ffmpeg plugin for wordpress. i'll say conspiracy by google they are paying off php coders not to develop ffmpeg plugins for open source CMS scripts so youtube stays at the top. searching on google for video sharing scripts php, it returns the same results from 3 years ago same rank order same results all over again, nothing new.

anyway, i'll try to develop a video plugin for vanilla when i have more experience with php.

cheers ! vanbook theme rules

I guess I should have mentioned that I tried eval as well as these examples and it was the slowest method.

Why not use eval? I had a similar problem a while back and found eval to be the best method (see: http://allwrightythen.com/is-eval-really-evil-2/).

Theoretically, the 2 million iteration scenario would be if 10,000 users were requesting the site at the same time. I haven't been in the web industry for long but that is A LOT of traffic.

I sure am glad though you put so much thought in to every line of code you write. Vanilla is the best piece of software I've seen, both source code and presentation. I can't wait to see what you've got "growing in the Garden" :)
