Domain Pain
I’ve literally spent days trying to come up with good domain names that are short, catchy, and available. Anyone who has spent even an hour on this sort of task knows that ANY tool that can help you in this regard is much appreciated. Today I found domai.nr:
Domain name search engine Domainr suggests web site addresses that make clever use of non-.com top level domains, subdomains, and folders, like del.icio.us, burri.to, or stop.spamming.us.

Mix this with http://www.morewords.com/ends-with/am for example, and you might have some really good ideas.
I truly hate these ‘smart’ short domains. They’re useless as a brand, impossible to remember, and waste the user’s bandwidth and time. I remember the first time I came across delicious, spending my time figuring out whether it was deli.cious or delicio.us or del.icio.us etc. A long but descriptive name is much easier to remember…
To quickly scan for available domains I recommend https://instantdomainsearch.com/ Shows results as you type, shortcut to save what you like, save myself the eternally slow agony of ‘regular’ whois searches. Once in a while their database is slightly out-of-date, but rarely so.
