How Do You Use Vanilla?

I’m doing some research for an article I’m writing, and I thought it might be better to once again reach out to the people who use Vanilla.
How do you use Vanilla?
ie. A support forum? A fansite? etc
How has Vanilla been helpful to you in achieving your goals?
ie. My customers got the answers they needed; We grew a great community of fans; etc
Has Vanilla saved you money? time?
Please share as much information as you want. You can post in the comments here on this blog, or email me at mark [at] lussumo [dot] com.
Thanks!

I use Vanilla primarily as a support forum for a small community of gamers coming from a game server I work on as a hobby.
In additional to that, I also use it to post random things one usually expects to find on a blog, but since there’s this great add-on that makes life so easy for me ( http://lussumo.com/addons/index.php?PostBackAction=AddOn&AddOnID=364 ) I figured I might as well integrate it so everything shares the same login credentials and session.
Vanilla has saved MANY hours of my time, mostly because the add-ons are just so quick and easy to install.
It also serves as my personal blog as previous mentioned, and also an integrated website thanks to another wonderful add-on ( http://lussumo.com/addons/index.php?PostBackAction=AddOn&AddOnID=60 ).
Because of these two add-ons I didn’t have to waste time finding alternate applications for each individual purpose and furthermore, didn’t have to waste time or even pay someone else to write a bridge integrating each application.
When I first switched to Vanilla from an alternate forum solution my user-base didn’t really like it because it was missing features x and y, but after a week or so of adjustment everyone seems happy with a simpler approach and it’s working out great.
Well, that’s my “success story” for now ;p
Good luck with your article!

How has Vanilla been helpful to you in achieving your goals?
YES! Its a great communication tool used internally. every posts there ideas, thoughts, at their own time and convenience. its better than sending group e-mails with cc’s, bcc’s. The pLug-ins thing is what makes Vanilla rock!
Has Vanilla saved you money? time?
Time: Its saved us a hassle of using email for discussions.
Vanilla is the software I use to run our support forum. It has definitely saved my company money because it reduces e-mail support.
